In 1989 they changed their style. Influenced by the band Brainwash in which Sami Yli-Sirniö played they now started to play Metal for the first time. Before they played some sort of Indie Pop, actually a combination of Prog and Punk. They also met Janne Parviainen for the first time.
A new era was beginning for Waltari.
A newly founded record company called Sonic Records heard their first EP and offered them to release a single. Waltari were not offered a record deal but the the 7'' single has been released containing the songs Rap Your Body Beat and Shout. The single was released in a round sleeve and the cover showed Waltari bald-headed to present a new look.
The existence of Sonic Recors was short. In February 1989 it was ceased. But next summer a new label called Stupido Twins was founded and promised Waltari to release the next 12'' EP which contained: Mut Hei, Days Of Distress, Sad Song and Icebox.
With this EP the 80's ended almost up for Waltari. "Let's make it better in the 90's" they declared on the EP. And so they did.
